Artist talks Patrick van Vliet & Beth Namenwirth (April 12th, 2018)
Patrick van Vliet
With his drawings and paintings he explores the discourse of the Dutch cultural landscape and its inhabitants. His work is characterized by a Dutch social realism in which his background as a planner is clearly visible. The images are recognisable, but at the same time alienating through their perspective, use of colour and the combination of elements he uses.
Beth Namenwirth
She likes to paint everyday things that appear to her like a disordered still life. She uses a technique of oil paint and marble powder. This gives the surface a sculptural quality. A recurring theme in her work is about women and the role they have or would like to have. She paints her subjects with humour in an unusual setting.
